  • Sunflower love spoon

It been a while since my last post and to be honest its been a while since I have been up my carvin shed.

I was asked to do a love spoon for a wedding present. It was a sunflower theme wedding and I was asked if I could do something with a sunflower, wedding bells and a heart.

I took a piece of lime and got busy with the knifes and gouges and this is what I made.

Have a look at my website for more pics if you wish.

Dave that's a beautiful lovespoon. I think you hit it spot on with the Sunflower and the Wedding Bells and the Hearts. Great Job.

Thanks for your kind comments. I forgot to say, I used Mirka abranet for the first time when finishing the spoon. Its great stuff. Far better tan normal sand paper. Well worth ago if you can get any.

Ok, I will do. Its a dust free alternative to conventional sandpaper. Its a bit more expensive but its really good. Its faster, dust free (it shaves the wood), lasts moch longer and leaves a smoother sanding pattern:

Very nice carving and design! I like the abranet, too - especially for the coarse grits - definitely cuts down a bit on the dust. Gotta watch the direction and move around a bit, though, as those coarse grits will sometimes form grooves in certain directions.

Nice love spoon. I'm sure they will treasure that for many years. I didn't know about the Mirka abranet. I'll have to give that a try. I just bought a bunch of sand paper, go figure.
