  • Whittled bear :)

The bear I'm whittling is pretty much done except a little clean-up & putting it's toes in maybe. Thought you'd like to take a look see.

Good job. Very life like posture. I bet it was very satisfying to do.

Thanks so very much for the kind words Dave. Yes, it was very satisfying. I found a relief pattern in a carving book, & loved it, so I decided to whittle it in the round. I have ZERO art background, so had to eyball most of it & guess the thickness of wood needed. & of course, google images was a BIG help! Thanks again.

Very nice job whittling the bear. Judging from the knife it is about 4" long and maybe 2.5high .

Good one! Do you plan on painting him? Or will you leave the wood natural?

Thanks Robert for the kind note. It's actually 6 & 1/2" long by 4" high, & just over 2" wide in the back hips.

Thanks chipchunker & dme. @ dme: I'm not sure what I'll do with him. I am REAL bad at painting, so may try burning fur in, since it's a black bear anyway, or just leave him natural. It's for me anyway, so no big rush. Thanks again all
