    an old memory

This gentleman comes from an old memory of when I was a child. We use to visit my grandparents each Sunday afternoon, a 30 min. drive into the country to their farm. Often, this old family friend would be on the side of the road going for a walk, and we'd always stop and say hello. "How's the body?" he'd say, in his old Irish lilt. He's long gone now, but I always remember him. Paddy Valley was his name, from Albery Plains, P.E.I..

Carved in Butternut, stands 9" tall.

Well done! I hope that you still take the time to say hello or wave. I walk a lot and wave to everyone. I say Hello to folks that walk by me. Most people ignore me and I find that sad. We are all neighbors. Thank you, Bob, for sharing this story.

Very very nice. He reminds me of my Uncle Emmet, also long gone.

At our age it is memories such as this become very important. They are even more special when you are able to recall them with your carving. Well done, my frien'.

            Bob,
Thanks for sharing that memory. I think it's important to share these kinds of "sweet" memories as we travel down that path to "old age" ourselves. Neat carving that is a great memorial to Paddy.
