  • First relief in progress

Here's my first relief carving in progress. I have the levels roughed in and am just really taking my time. Will post more as it comes along.

Have fun with it. Is that going to be a Canadian goose?

A very interesting subject for your first relief. Is the wood butternut? If you're like me, you are probably evolving your treatment of specific parts as you go. Take your time and enjoy the process!

Yes. It's a Canadian Goose in a piece of basswood. This piece had that bark left on and I thought it would make a neat boarder and appear to be a tree trunk in the final project. At least that's what I have in my head right now!
