Nope it is basswood and is 12\" tall x 9 back of head to tip of beak.
And thanks for the kind words guys. It was interesting to carve. A couple of us from our club were doing them and each one came out completely different.

The eagle head is quite outstanding. At the risk of offending, let me suggest something for your next eagle head. Some Pacific NW carvings include stones or shells as highlights. Here is the head of an eagle wall decoration with a tiger-eye inset for the eye:

Thanks for the input. A carver here puts brass pieces on all of his Haida carvings and that looks great too.
