Ivar the Horrable(hunter) is coming along! Another day's progress, small but steady. More defination on his body, arms, leg positions, knees up, running hel* for leather or high ground! Will he make it or become a tooth mark on the wee beast behind him??? I'll begin Ma tomorrow I believe. Have to get her fixed in my mind.... not much experience in this direction, so learn as I go!

Bob,
it really is comming along.
I assume the tools your showing are the ones you have already used on the carving. Isn't it amazing how many different cutters we use on a picture relief. Keep the photos comming I am really enjoying what your doing .
"Ma" got some attention today. I have learned that I am rusty at a number of things, getting female anatomy right is one of them. Oh well, practice makes perfect. I'm better at dragons than I am at ladies, I hope anyway. Ma seems a bit of a "dragon" herself at this stage, but we'll work on that!

Looking good Bob!...a novel subject for sure. Was trying to figure out if that poor little guy is running from the dragon or the wife. lol
Will be watching for updates on your progress.
Finally began work on the central figure...... the dragon! Must make him/her suitably fearsome, get perspective correct, (my damm vanishing point has up and vanished) and supply sufficient "energy" to the position to portray movement and power! Any and all pointers or suggestions greatly appreciated! It's times like this I sometimes think I should have stuck to ships!
All in all, I think it is coming along. Whether for a wall or the fire box, I'm not sure at this stage!

Bob,
I think it is doing well , but I can't say much about the perspective , for one reason , your giving an angled picture which adds our perspective.
But I think what your telling us is that the direct perspective line of the dragon blends with the background when you look at the flat carving. So the dragon might be a bit more flat than you wanted. I am sure you will work it out , but you might be able to undercut the rocks to make him more of looking recessed into the crevice.
