Thanks everyone. The gentleman receiving the thank you has a cottage on the river and he wanted something big enough that boaters could see it from the river. The next one I do this size will have to have roots as its a bugger to move around. I'm now trying my hand at a small relief to give my hands and mallet a rest. Now all I have to do is give this guy a name as most ask for one.

Ah ............ sure and be jabers....that's P.E.I.'s gain and Nova Scotia's loss! Thats a fine piece of carving Patrick, and a grand gesture on your own part. It's is nice to be able to return a favour in that way!
Very nice job Patrick, don't see any changes that I would make, he'll love it, great jesture on your part, mostly likely will get some referrals from it too. Bill
Awesome again....love those eyes. I do hope I get to see one of your woodspirits in person someday. I'm willing to bet that they are even better in person.

Patrick you could have posted this and not told us who you were and we would know instantly that it was your carving. Absolutly wonderful carving my friend and I agree the eyes are just beatiful really well done you keep setting the bar a little higher for us.

I was given a load of yellow and white birch during my last visit to PEI - where I'm originally from. I felt it was only right to carve out my supplier a wood spirit as a thank you. Now that I see the pictures I may make a few modifications. It's 5 ft tall and has one coat of tung oil/thinner so far. Each coat will darken the lines some more. Not an easy piece to move around given its size and weight.
