Once upon a time........the Harris Hawk was known as the bay-wing hawk, because of the rufous coloration on the wing. The handle on your cane seems to represent this feature. I think the Harris hawk cane is great.
Very nice cane Bob. Could double as a bottle opener Just kidding - couldn't imagine such a nice carving used for such a thing. You have a real niche for canes.

Thank you for the nice comments folks. Paul....... I never thought about the Mahogany wood colour, but you are absolutely right. Looking at the photographs of the Hawk, the shoulders are a real bright rust! Very similar to the natural Mahogany. Thanks for mentioning that. I love the hawk, such a rich colour and magnificant face.

Don't know how I missed this thread, great job on the cane Bob., the job on the open bill adds to it also. That Dave is always so considerate, thinking about saving you time.
Geez thanks Dave, wanting to save me time and all! Hugh is right, I should take you up on your offer, and if you really want to save me time, come on over, the wife has a honey-do-list that she is sure to keep you busy and "Save me time" for carving!!! Talking
