I always like the carvings with the big beards. He has a unique look with the outfit and bushman style hat. Very nice.

At first I thought that it was a woodspirit and misfiled it, then the second, third, and fourth picture showed my error.

Yes once the other pieces are finished the entire carving will be painted , and stained combined

Yes but more to the nature of an Indian trader The hands will be holding a piece of the spalted maple that will be cut and rolled down like a blanket .


Glad you all like it the other pices will be a bit of a challenge but , I think it will come together nicely .

Great job! I was thinking with a few modifications that would make a great Santa also. Yes you are getting better! I have been kind of in a slump lately as far as carving. Need inspiration I guess. Been thinking about your "Tree of Life" carving. That was a good one!

Ash,

The Trader looks great. Should be interesting with the spalted maple blanket roll. The detail is phenomenal. I bet this one is giving your micro tools a workout, From the amount of detail, I assume you're using micro tools, right?

Is the Trader a commission, or a carving you're doing for yourself?
