Great job! I like the background texture. Is the background done with gouge marks or was there a special technique used?

Our leader - Tom Gallagher - insisted that the whole carving be done "by hand". We started it Thanksgiving weekend at our Carving Competition at Metro City Hall (Oct.7 & 8) then moved over the Lee Valley Tools, where most of the work was done. The background was a #5 - 1/4" chisel - if I remember correctly. It was handed over to the City on December11th. My twelve year old son also worked on it.

That's a very special carving. Group projects like that, where many contribute make real special. And it's great looking too. Thanks for sharing. Tom H

That carving is especially nice. The background also caught my eye. You all should be very proud of your efforts. - Earl

that is quite the effort by your group of carvers.
I saw the picture of your son in the paper with David Miller

                    Good job by all.

That is quite impressive and almost big enought to justify some chainsawing!

I know the beaver from the flat tail and the other fellow must be a dog. Interesting to have on a Coat of Arms. Thanks for posting.

Great job by your group Deb. Now you'll have to do a characture of Mayor Mel!!! to go with it!

That's quite a carving...and done by a group as well! By the size of it, it looks to be quite heavy. Thanks for sharing.

The other fellow is suppose to be a bear, we had to do it exactly like the drawing we were given. We all thought it was a dog too, but were set straight by the protocol office.
