Re: Relief Carving of Escher's "Waterfall"

Thanks AlArchie. The train goes from Victoria Station. There IS a track #9-3/4, by the way. At that place there is a baggage cart half way thru the wall!

Here are some of the photos of this relief in progress. This shows that some of the vast WCI archive of woodcarving information CAN be made more useful by replacing the illustrations. To do this requires that WE invite back formerly active participants who have the original photos in their files.

What are those strange geometric shapes at the top of the towers? They are "nested polygons" - shapes centered on the same point but rotated 90 degrees. The left tower has three nested cubes. The right tower has three nested tetrahedrons.

Pallin, this came out great! Escher is one of my favorite artists. He was amazing. I’m sure he’d like what you’ve created!

I realize now (9 and 3/4 years later) that I gave AlArchie the wrong info. The train platform #9-3/4 is at KingsCross station. There is now a full blown tourist shop for Harry Potter stuff.

As the newer members can see, this is a discussion that went on for 50 postings. There are some great topics in the WCI archives. Do some searches.
