  • Wooden Egg

Hi gang, been away from the Forum for a while....I had some wool spinning I had to dedicate to getting finished. Our carving club has a little project where we all carve, wood burn etc an egg. So thought I'd share my egg with you all.

I first drew the design free hand in pencil on to the wooden egg, then wood burned the pattern, then used colored pencils. The base is a painted wooden wheel left over from making small drop spindles a Christmas project. I used four coats of semi-gloss spray lacquer

That's a wonderful project. A very nice blend of burning, painting, and natural wood. I like the overall geometry and color scheme. Nicely done.

Thank you, Nomad it sat on my work bench for a while before I decided what to do with it. Then it came to me what to do.

Thank you, Joe I love the Southwest Indian type designs and the shape of the egg just seemed to fit what I wanted to do with it.

Hi Bruce, Thank you I think it's a super project with endless possibilities it's a blank canvas. The contest will have only one winner ($20.00) 1st place I'd hate to be the Judge. I don't expect to win there are some excellent carvers in our Club. Our meeting is September 23rd I'll post some pictures of the eggs and the winning egg.
