  • Hummingbird pyrography with watercolour paint. Vast improvement on the last effort.

    Hi Guys,
Had another go at a bird done with pyrography and watercolour paints. This one looks a lot better than my first effort. I changed the branch colour so that the feet showed up better ( Thanks for the tip Sappy) and I diluted the paint a lot which lets the burn show up a lot better.

I took one photo up close and one from further away to give you some idea of how it looks from a couple of meters away.

The actual bird is 5.5 inches in height.

Very nice Glenn. I usually switch more to pyrography in the summer since it is to hot here to be out in my shed often. Burning is less messy in the house. I'll have to try some birds.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I really enjoyed doing this piece. Think maybe a NZ falcon portrait might be next.

Thanks Claude. I love these little birds . Have just purchased a 600mm pre-prepared round wood panel to use to make a montage of about 10 birds to hang on the wall. Think it will take about a month working full time on it to get it done.
