Looks good newsome, but he seems to need some color.
If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

Good burn, I agree with Tom, lots of paleness, the background at least. Judt our 2ยข. The burning is great!

Joe Paul and Tom, if by "color" you mean more green, I'm sorry, I'm just not fond of adding colors to my burnings. It was all I could I could do to add the green eyes, lol. I just can't!

If you're referring to tones, I did want to add a little more depth, but I get to a certain point and I get scared i will do too much and mess up. I will say though, the actual work has a lot more tonal depth than my cell phone photograph shows. My photography skills definitely leave something to be desired.

Glenn, I did this entire picture with a medium spear shader. I think the whole thing was done on settings between 5 and 6. I laid the base colors down with the flat part of the shader, then textured the edges with the tip and the fur with the edge of the spear.

I find that I get good even color with the shader running pretty flat, but I struggle to get any texture from it. I like to use it to get the backgrounds to a shade I like. The tip and the edge provide a lot more texture for me. When I use the edge, it leaves a distinct line. Works good for hair, but its a little harsh for other applications for me. With the tip of the spear, I feel like I can get the texture without actually cutting into the wood. I hope that makes sense!

Newsome, As far as color, I did mean the correct green, After all, it is the Grinch. I think it would really make this an eye catcher.. with all the hair around the edges, it would me a real challenge, but well worth it. With thinned paint or stain, your burns would still show through. Try a little practice piece first.

I agree with Tom; this is a well done piece and even a wash with the correct shade of green would elevate this work.

Thanks! I switched it out because I didn't want people believing I was portraying myself as a Grinch!!
