  • do they sell cases for optima burners

    Hi,

I just was lucky enough to get an optima 1 dual burner for christmas. I'm wondering if they make/sell cases for it? It would be nice to have a case to keep it and all the pens protected and organized.

Does any one where I may be able to buy one, or would you mind shareing what you use to keep your burner in?

    thanks

I use an old fishing tackle box I picked up at the Goodwill Store.

I use a large fishing box with drawers and a large space under the lid to store mine.

I have a cosmetic case I bought at JC Penny. It looks like aluminum and opens in the center. The two sides have shelves that accordian out. Looks like the CSI cases. I've had it for years but they are still around. It will fit many brands of burners except some Detailmaster and Nibsburner.

I use a "Six-Pack" cooler. The main compartment easily holds the burner and the pens go in a separate section on top with it's own zipper. I carry an extension cord in the net compartment on the back of the unit. Throw the strap over your shoulder and you are ready to go. The insulation provides good protection for the pens and control box.

Thanks for the great tips, I would have never thought of a cosmetic case! I like the cooler idea too, will have to see witch is more economical, Now I just have to learn how to use it.

Optima specifically doesn't make one but I know I have seen some before. But the only one I could find now was on the Colwood site. I'm sure the Optima would fit in it by the looks of it. It looks like it is just hard molded plastic. It was $28.50. Sorry I don't know how to do the links or i would post one for you. I thought that was kinda expensive for what it was. I think the ideas you have been given already would be better to me.

I've heard them all before except for the "six-pack" one. That is pretty cool Denny! Very original.

Another one is my friend got an artist case, briefcase style, wood and modified the inside with foam so the burner would fit nice and snug. And she plans on burning the outside of the case, personalizing it. The lid on the inside has a like file pocket in it where she puts like patterns, tracing paper, books.

Myself I have one of those rolling tool boxes because I burn and carve. And our carving club meets twice a week and we go to several shows and demonstrations through out the year with them so a rolling one was a must. It has a nice size drawer which fits my burner great. I just slip it in a bubble wrap bag before placing it in the drawer for extra protection. Then it also has small pull our drawers under the burner drawer that are the perfect length for my burning pens. The bottom section is like a bin where I put my wood and books. It comes apart in three section. The top looks like a regular tool box and that is where my carving tools are. Then the mid section is the drawer section I was speaking of before and then the bottom section. I love it. Don't know what I will do when it wears out put will find something. It's been holding up pretty good.

So lots of options out there. Good luck on finding what suits you.
