  • Another finished work

One of the pieces I finished for a Christmas present is a portrait of my daughter's dog Chase, an English Setter. I burned it on an 8 x 10 piece of 1/8" baltic birch plywood. This was a difficult project because most of the image consisted of negative space; that is, the dog is white, so his image is contained mostly within the non-burned parts of the piece. I had some trouble controlling the shading, so it appears blotchy in places, but overall I was satisfied with the result. My daughter loves it. Sorry for the delay in posting, but I forgot to photograph it before I gave it to her, so I had to wait for her to take a picture.

Very nice - it looks even better in person. I'm glad you were able to get a picture to post.

Nice job. I know how difficult it can be to do a subject that's white.

Nice job on the pup! It's not easy burning a white dog.

Very impressive, you've made it look soft and fluffy even, hard to do!
