  • Pattern question

When you have a pattern you want to use, do you transfer the pattern to the wood with carbon paper or do you sketch it out with pencil?

Is it just as easy to do it free hand?
I havent done any pyrography yet but I can draw with pencil or pen and ink.

Howdy, Ken is right either way works well. I like to get the idea down on sketch paper first I think the less erasing on the wood the better. I use graphite paper (can purchase at kraft store or thru say Dick Blick online) for my final.
Hope this helps and looking forward to seeing your work and if you need help we're here too.

        canadian Scroller,
what I do is copy the pattern with my copy machine on to white thick constrution paper ( reduced or enlarged to fit the wood i'm going to use) then cut it out, place the pattern on the wood and draw the outside of the pattern on the wood with pencil or pen. the pattern is strong enough to use over and over again.
