I have a plaque that I wood burned a picture on. I would like to add some color using oil pencils. Do I need to seal the wood first before I add the color, and if so, with what? The wood is bass wood.
Hi Rusty, I would seal 1st with any Sealer, ( PolyU , Lacker ). I think it makes the colors go on smoother and easier to control the Shades. I have found that you need to SPRAY the final finish, not Brush or Wipe on. By Spraying you set the Colors without removing them or smearing them. I found that out the hard way. I think the Oil Pencils give it a nice Subtle look. Looking forward in seeing your results. Merle
