  • Box Top Leaf Design

Here is a design adapted from Wayne Barton that works well for the top of a small wooden box. It is mainly the four oak leaves that are mirror reflections, and center of geometric curves. This box had been carved with a large two-letter monogram, but the letters no longer applied, so I carved it flat and drew the leaf design. The wood is white pine - 7 1/4" x 9 1/2"

As I worked on this message and photo I discovered an error - a missing chip cut. Can you find it?

Actually that 4 o'clock blemish is a defect in the wood. The chip cut error I noticed is in the oak leaf at the 7 o'clock position. The upper edge toward the leaf tip should have a curving cut from the overlapping leaf point to the tip.
