    "Dia de Muertos" cane

I have always liked the images associated with this Mexican holiday where people pray for the spiritual journeys of friends and family who have passed on. This is a crepe myrtle stick that someone pruned and I snatched it out of their yard trash several years ago. The handle is a brass hame, used on harnesses for draft animals, and it is very comfortable in the hand and makes a tremendously strong handle. The crepe myrtle is a little hard to carve, but hold details well. The design is based on elements from leather working patterns. Thanks for looking!
