  • Mahogany and Teak cane.

This has a mahogany handle and a teak shank. The shank is a 36 inch boat flag pole. I found it at a close out sale at a marine supply store. The Derby shape handles round end on the back of the handle lets the cane hang easily and stable on a flat service like a table. I often use a cane and find that there is rarely an out of the way place to store it when I sit at a table in a public place. This lets me tuck the shank under the table and it hangs out of the way. I will do a carving on the shank I am not sure what as of yet.

That is an interesting cane, but it made my edges chatter, mahogany handle, and a teak shank, that got to be a little tough.

36" is good extra for custom fitting, I need 34". If I had to lean on it a little to correct my crappy sense of balance, how wide is the mahogany handle?

With the handle the hight is just over 40". Using that as a average hight on my canes I can fit them to most people. The handle is about a inch and 1/8th in diameter. I will do a leaf pattern at the top of the shank at the request of the customer I got today.

That should be a very stately looking cane when it's finished. I like the hanging on the table idea!

It has been 60 days. I am finely getting back to work on this one. I am doing a fish scale collar with a group of leaves below it.

I like how it hangs off the table, I have had to use a cane for almost 18 years, they are okay to use, but when you sit down, they become a "third" pain as to when to put it.
