i like his expression, like he is exuding pure love of the thought of going for a walk.

The picture looks like the dog is saying to the person holding the camera "What are you doing?" You made the topper look like the same dog Posed for the camera. I like it.

Outstanding one, Randy. The carved one just looks like a younger one, based on my first impression.

Hi Merle. No. I just textured the area under the head and about a 7inch grip area. the staff is a 1 inch paduak staff ,was able to mch the color on the area below the carving. Basswood carving. Textured with a #8 palm gouge. The hands would not have made it if I had tried to do the whole staff.

Nothing like a neat pooch to get you going. Love pooches and have carved a couple. BUT Randy this is nice. We don't have pets, but enjoy OP's (Other Peoples.). Great coloring too.

He looks really good, and a lot like the dog in the photo. His eyes are particularly good, and nailing the forehead marking is a nice touch

started a topic Dog from photo.

    Dog from photo.

This is representative of a friends dog. I am not quite up to a skill level to replicate the dog from the picture but I am happy with it.
