  • Door Knob Cane #2

This is the 2nd Cane my Niece wanted me to make for her out of Antique Door Knobs . This one is Brass and the other is Glass , both have a Diamond Willow Piece added to give it Contrast . I made it a little long for a Cane , but they are short and can use it as a Walking Stick, I think it's more Comfortable that way .
Had to remove a lot of Wood from the Shaft by Grinding so now I need to clean the Shop, boy do I ever . Merle IMG_0001.jpg IMG_0002.jpg IMG_0003.jpg IMG_0004.jpg IMG_0005.jpg IMG_0006.jpg

Those are great Merle, I always wondered why they made antique door knobs so fancy. They are pretty boring nowadays.
If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

That would feel OK under the hand with the slightly raised texture patterns.
Good choice to add the DW accent.

Hi Tom , I guess the Smooth Polished look today is the Style . I hope the Daughter doesn't find the Bag full of Door Knobs that she said she has, I don't want to make anymore . 2 is enough . All work no Challenge . Thanks Tom . Merle

Hi Brian , being Door Knobs I guess when they were made they wanted them to feel good under Hand, but they never thought they would be on the End of a Cane . I agree the Diamond Willow adds to the look . Thanks for your Kind Words . Merle

Looks just fine Merle. I like the colour variations in the grip. That and the shape gives it a bit of something special. very aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
