  • Colored Pencil Eagle Cane

Trying Colored Pencil for Coloring on Cane Topper. I think I like it better than Painting. It isn't as Bold and shows Detailing a lot better without Antiquing. This is the 2nd. Eagle Cane of my Design . It has 2 coats of PolyU now and after mounted on Shaft will get about 2 more Coats. Always trying to find Different things and ways to do . I really like the detailing on the wings, and the relationship of the eagle with the handle. I am a little confused with the front view. The feet threw me at first, but I see it now. A really nice cane Merle!

Hi, Sappy, I spent a lot of time on the Head and Feet. Didn't want to do to much Detailing on the Feet because it would be to Fragile and break easy. I try to make my Canes Use Able . The Detailing on the other Eagle Cane is the same as this one , but it is Painted and the Detailing isn't as Visible . That's why I like the Colored Pencil, I was surprised with the Results. Thank You , Always Appreciate your your Encouragement . Merle

Hi, C-wade, I was a little surprised about the White also. I think what made it so is I put a Coat of PolyU on the Bare Wood to seal it and keep the Color from mixing with the Wood Sap. I feel I'll be using this Method more often now . Thanks for Commenting . Merle

Beautiful job Merle, Do the pencils last as well as the paint?
If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

Hi, Wayne, I usually Antique all my Pieces, I find with the Colored Pencils no need to . They are not as Bright as Paint. Thank You Merle

Hi, Tom, I have the Colors Sandwiched between Coats of PolyU. 1 Coat on the Raw Wood then add the Colored Pencil, then 3-4 Coats of Poly U. I don't think the Colors will Fade . Thanks for your Interest. Merle

Hi, Yolli, I have used Colored Pencils before but not over so much Detailing or on a Cane . It was a Pleasant Surprise. How are you doing with your Chip Carving? Haven't seen any of your Progress lately. Thanks for your Kind Words. Merle
