  • 1st stick for a while

I did this for a relative that is having knee surgery. First thing I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve done for quite a while. Sort of an Irish walking stick made of oak. I was in a hurry so I forgot to take pics in the early stages. This oak seems to be a white oak hybrid. It has an odd growth pattern almost like hornbeam. Found it in my back lot about 2 years ago, been drying ever since.

If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

Well this is my 4th try at a post hope this one gets on.
Anyway, thanks to all for your approval on my 1st attempt of an Irish style knob-stick. Since giving this on a road test I\'ve become a big fan of the style. I think I\'ll make me one for everyday use.

Great job on your first Shillelagh. They were also used as a weapon in Ireland during the time when Shillelagh Law was still honored. Unfortunately, like most of the good old traditions, it has been all but lost in time.
