  • Searching for impactful older article

I am looking for help finding an older article from Woodcarving Illustrated. It was a feature about an artist who was doing three dimensional relief carvings that were really more painting than they were standard carvings. He was essentially marrying the medium of relief carving with that of standard canvas style paintings. His work centered around abstract and moving emotions (a ship being tossed by the sea, a solitary girl, someone with roots growing down from his feet). These may not be exact representations of his work as I have not seen the images in probably 10 years. Any help in figuring out the article, or more importantly, the artist would be immensely appreciated. The article was likely in a magazine somewhere around 10 or so years ago. Thank you for your help!
