Here is a cross I just finished and stained. I am so glad that I've taken y'all's advice and gone deeper with my carvings...makes such a difference. Makes it more difficult in places too! LOL

I am amazed at how clean and sharp your edges are. When I do a relief, it looks like a hungry rat chewed up a piece of wood. Your carving is so smooth, and even, and crisp....outstanding job.

Thank you all so much I have learned soooo much from you all and I'm grateful!
Mike, the wood is Butternut and the stain is Minwax, Early American...I really like this color, it's neutral...not to orange and not too red. I will put a clear finish on when it dries .
OH OH OH, I sold both pieces that I sent to my sister in law's store..That really inspired me! I wish I had gotten more ready for Christmas, but oh well. I have three more ready to send back with her after the holidays.
