An herbalist's tip for cuts

I have had ripped tendons from martial arts, and I did cut one. They got surgery and healed up fine. The little scar tissue had to be exercised...but with willpower, there is a way, it is called physical therapy. Yes, herbal is better than most big pharma meds which, I have found out in my old age.

I think it's very dangerous to accept the attitude that cuts are inevitable in carving. Avoiding cuts is a learned skill in the same way slicing or paring cuts must be learned. You should not be doing hand-held carving (whittling) until mastering cut avoidance. Clamp the wood in a vise or on your bench while you learn this skill.Last edited by pallin; 04-29-2023, 04:26 PM.

My wife say little boys who play with sharp tools cut them selves. I hate it when she is right. While a carving glove will not stop a stabing cut it will slow it down. This is a debate that fills many threads on the forum. I just know that before I put on the glove I spent a large amount of money at a couple of ER's and lost all feeling in the top 1/2 of my left indext finger. And in the last 20 or so years I have not had a blade injury a bandaid could not fix.

In the beginning I cut myself more times than I can count. Slice tested just about every glove on the market. I finally got smart, bought a stainless steel chainlink glove and haven't cut myself since. Sappy's advice are words to live by!

I have cut myself good a few times. One of the worst times was when I had carving gloves on, and had to cut that extra strong glove off my hand to stop the bleeding. Gloves do not stop piercing cuts. I have clotting agents in the first aid box. My fix is always to have a nice first aid kit with a blood clotting agent. I do have pine trees and was thinking about getting some for candles....but will take the information as a need-to-know. If we hit another great depression in the near future... it will be needed. So thanks.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure....... wear a glove and learn to stop cutting yourself, and you won't have to rely on herbalist cures........ just saying

You said "as usual". Hmm, isn't there some thing about doing the same thing and each time expecting different results? Once it becomes a tendon, pine pitch won't help.

An herbalist's tip for cuts
As usual, I cut myself using a very sharp knife when distracted. I don't wear gloves. No big deal, even though this was a fairly good cut or two.
Herbalist tip: Have crystalized pine pitch on hand to stop bleeding, help prevent infection and speed healing for even deep cuts.
