        Here are a few of the photos from the original discussion. The first shows the general layout of the knife with cross-hatching of the wood to be removed. The second shows making the blade slot using a narrow gouge. (This is one step that would be very difficult to carve with a knife1) The third is the gouge used for the pivots. The fourth shows the moment of blade release. The fifth shows the knife partly folded with side texturing.

          Thanks for the pix. Now I need a skinny gouge. There is always room in my cave for another carving tool.
