Female form carving

  • Eyes opened. Sanded to 220. Then a quick bath.

                • Hard to tell because of the angle on the 3rd photo, but I don't see any thing wrong with the two profiles. Is there a chance you could crop the original photo to just show the face?

                    • I don't see anything wrong with the face. Since we can't see the original photos, maybe there is something there that your carving doesn't replicate to your satisfaction?

                      I will say that the wood grain does marvelous things to this figure.

                              That is the problem her profile is spot on but the nose isn’t right to my eye. I think I may embark on a practice series of small busts of specific people working on noses and I need to get better at lips as well.

                              I think the female form and all the lovely curves they provide are made to show off the grain. Certainly a symbiotic relationship.

                              Client is happy with the progress photos so guess I need to get over it.
