  • Re-purposed Candle Holder

Painting Holder (2).JPGPainting Holder (1).JPGA number of years ago a friend and fellow woodcarver turned this piece of red cedar into a candle holder for my wife. It was a great idea but it didn't work out as a candle holder. It was just too top heavy. We were cleaning out my wife's miscellaneous drawer the other day when she found it where she stored it sometime back. My friend has since passed on and I just didn't have the heart to throw his work away. It was then that I got this "Brain F##T" to re-purpose it as a holder for painting carvings. I drilled a pilot hole from the center of the inside of the piece all the way through to the bottom. Then from the inside I screwed a 3" drywall screw letting it stick out of the bottom of the candle holder with the candle holder sitting upside down. I love it. It works much better than I expected and acts as a handle for the carving during painting. No more painted fingers!

Bet that bear is a little uncomfortable! But on the other hand, great idea Eddie.
