There is some information in this article that are inconsistent with information from other resources.

First it claims walnut oil does not “dry” which really describes polymerization. Walnut oil does polymerize but takes several months compared to days for BLO or weeks for Tung oil. The obvious question, if it didn’t polymerize why would you use it as a wood finish?

It then claims there is no spontaneous combination risk. Lee Valley sales walnut oil wood finish. Please read it describes the drying time (up to 6 months) and the spontaneous combustion risk.

BLO will darken over time if this is a problem for you use Tung oil it is superior product to BLO in every way except curing time.



One last difference between walnut oil and BLO. One is over a dollar per once the other thirty cents.
