  • Can you ID this gouge?

I have a long bent gouge I picked up second hand quite a while back, and I'm curious about the manufacturer and perception of the quality of the brand, as I can't get a decent edge on it. It's marked L.C., West Germany. Anybody familiar with this?

    loew-cornell, Is my best guess.

I think they used to be sold through art supply stores. No Idea who made them.

Nebraska may have the answer. I was given a long bent V-tool several years ago. It was clearly marked Marples. I think the company was in England near Sheffield.
What is the cutting edge profile of your gouge?

Yep, that's it, Bob, similar to second from the bottom in the first photo. Thank you! And thanks, Nebraska.

I never heard of the brand before. I hope someone has had experience with them and can tell me if they could get a decent edge,

Phil, it's a #20, 8mm long bent similar to the one shown in Bob's link but smaller.
