  • Advantages of a "handed" carving axe?

I have a cleaving axe, a carving axe and a spare axe. I am thinking of grinding my spare axe to a single bevel right-handed profile. Before I go for it, is it worth doing? What are the pros and cons?

I have an axe with a right handed single bevel. It's great for roughing in flat side on what ever your carving. Also makes quick work of bark removal. So yea I'd say it would be worth it.

It cuts like a draw knife or an adze or a froe or a plane. The waste spalls off the bevel while the flat side runs on the conserved wood surface. PacNW crooked knives shave off the top side.
