Shaker peg handles

I would guess that many of us have at least one set of small diamond detail files in our box of tools. They are always use full for shaping small deatil and that final touch. But I have always dislike the sinny handles, they slip and ture in my hands. And with old hands they can be hard to hold on to firmly. This was my solution and I am very happy with it. They only thing I would do different is next time I will make the hole a 11/2" deeper in the ped to shorten the over all length.

Good to see you getting a handle on things. Good idea. I have small rasps that I put 3/8 dowel rod on for handles.

I had to laugh because I had that idea to take all the handles off my files with the intention to make handles just like you.... but after a few years passing they have no handles on them and I have to use them with just the steel rod,...thanks for the reminder I got one project that should be finished. I like the design of your handles.

I have a couple of walnut pegs I found in a box in the shop. I am going to put a small detail carving blade in one and give it a try.

Great idea! I've got a couple of dozen pegs in the closet from when I used to make belt hangers for the kids at the dojo. I think I'll dig out a couple and see how they fly!
