  • three new knives

I stumbled across an old broken custom bow at a garage sale, and this is what the wood turned into.
It made for some beautiful lamination, and the handle shapes were made to work with the lamination design.

Two are made from German straight razors, and the third is a Cape Forge blade. I will probably be keeping the top one, and may list the other two on Ebay .

    Hope you enjoy the pics.

Tom, I made self bows for years and shot the laminated recurves, and yes there are some beautiful pieces of laminants out there. Good find and job well done on the handles.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. In my mind I can see how to do some of the laminations, but haven't tried yet.
I do know that it killed a band saw blade cutting whatever was in them.

Tom, if you are able to do the laminations please let us know how you went about doing it. I have tried with glue ups but it never comes out as nice as yours.

Dave, don't get confused thinking I did these. It is a bow I found and cut it up into handles.
It seems to me that you could just cut a curve with your bandsaw, and then glue in a laminate, and sandwich the pieces back together. That is just in my mind though. Maybe Alan can help you there.
