I do not have an addiction rather than I have an obsession .....my bandsaw is number one!!! and it is a must-have and must being running... out of all my power tools. The number one tool that I can not live without. LOL I think tool acquisition begins when you start saying that there has to be a...

  • Got the Pfeil carving knife....and out of the 45 CARVING knives that I own, it is one that should be in the trash can. Just my opinion mind you. Most of my chisels are Pfeil and they are top choices, but the knife

Got both saws....4 by 4 by 8 inch is not going to be cut with my scroll saws nor any kind of scroll saw that I have seen as most scroll saws offer a depth of cut between 1 ¾ and 2 ¼ inches. Also, Scroll saws great for drilling holes on thin wood and doing inside cut out but not for something that...

Just read an interesting fact about the owners and fire. Guy and Tracey are the owners. The most obvious challenge for this commission was how to make it breathe fire! In this case, Guy had a plan, and Simon’s role was to create a cavity within the sculpture for the propane pipe. If you saw the...

Burl is a bear to even power carve....what did you use to hollow it out? meaning what kind burr or such that is on the angle grinder? I have a bunch of it given to me sitting in the shop. What do you use to fill the holes? if you do that....

  • I like your first thought to paint the cat white because the picture shows the fuzzy part of cat and that is what makes it special. A white fuzzy cat shows up a lot better and brings the cat out of the wood plus making it more pronounced than it would black fuzzy cat especially on dark wood. Although...

That is why you will get tons of different advice, take look at all of them and decide which one is for you. It is all a matter of what you like, not the other person. It is just not wood, but also tools, methods, finishes, how to carve, we all have our own things that we prefer. I have woods I...

  • I say keep it simple. One....Sweep is the shape of the cutting edge. Two....Every brand has its own sweep chart which slightly differs. So you have to choose the brand, go look at the sweep chart and decide what you want. For example, Flexcut has a gouge called the sweep and one called the...

No clubs around, but lots of master craftsmen that make top award-winning furniture. I told one of them who lives near me, got any throw-away wood, can I have it? It got so they would call me and ask my opinion on the creative side of what looks good and what does not on their own new projects. ...

There is a deep belief that is often taught at a young age, that you have to have a natural talent to do any kind of art. Especially the fine arts. Most people will not even attempt to learn how to begin, with often remark, " I can not do that,... I can not even draw a straight line." ...
