So I finally got the official word I have been accepted, but. There always seems to be a butt. I can’t display the nudes. Not a big deal looking forward to the experience.

Plywood is an interesting option for larger carvings like this one by Bill Prickett.

Nice job Chuck, very hipster. As for finish I almost always start with a polymerizing oil (tung oil) followed a month later with satin poly. I like what these oils do to preserve the wood.

Anders,
The general face shape is pretty good for a female. I think the brow line and nose are were you ended up with a masculine look. Hopefully you have another piece of wood and can try try again.

Connect them first then carve. This carving is made from four blocks glued together.
Here is a thread on glue ups. https://forum.woodcarvingillustrated...86463-glue-ups

Another option:
Select photos of what you want to carve. (George Harrison) do a little math and print a profile and head photos. Scale them to the size of the carving using the enlarge function of a photo copier.

They said three weeks, in three weeks, it was next month, at the end of the month, it was next month. After several attempts to contact Rikon for a real...Last edited by Nebraska; 06-02-2022, 02:50 PM.

Welcome to the forum.
Well I have found one and truly cut proof.

I think the concept of patterns is over emphasized. Any photo of any object is a pattern if scaled to the size you want to carve. Learn to enlarge or reduce on your copier and you will never lack for objects to carve.
