Sad part is it leaves me with half of a $65 block of mahogany that is only about 7” tall. Kind of short for my normal projects. Will have to give some thought to what it could become. And still have broached iththe bad new to my customer but with doing in basswood plan to go back to the original...

Sat down at the bench yesterday to start this carve. It took a few minutes of struggling to remove wood before I realized my colossal screwup. The grain was running left to right not up and down. Well onto JuNelle 2.0 this version will be carved in basswood.

New Class
After completing the beginning carving class this group is learning to carve the Eagle. We have Pandora tuned to the Joe Cocker channel and the ladies are making chips.You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Well here is are examples of carvings done by CNC 3D carving in natural wood. The pirates manufactured in Moldova are sold on Etsy 12” tall selling for around $90.00 claiming they are handmade. Certainly, This idea was present to the client as “I was thinking doing something different with this piece”. Shared a photo of Tony Grainger’s work explaining that rather then a hand drawn picture behind the carving, would us an enlargement of her original image. The response was “Very Cool”....

Got me wondering because of the new technology there was talk of extending copyright laws to sculptures. I wonder if Congress ever quit fighting long enough to get that passed?

No this stuff is fun.
My Dad always told me I was a carrier because I never get headaches……….

The style and finish reminds me of cigar store statues there are sites for collectors of these statues and I think that maybe a better place to look for answers....
