Newest caricature animal carving. Gary Batte’s “Flea Bits” from his Crazy Critters book. Had to shrink it %17 to fit the wood I had. Watered down acrylic paint, basswood,clear enamel spray sealer....

Burnishing with antler
Wanted to shout out a thanks to @Tbox61 for the tip on burnishing with antler. I carved a little face at work because it was slow today and cut the tip off an antler shed and tried it out. It worked great and I was able to define some or the details around the mouth and smooth the brows down. The wood...Last edited by C-wade7; 01-10-2023, 09:53 PM.

I too got a set of the paper wheels. I was reading on them and they said they are made to work best at 3400-3600 rpm. I was wanting to run the slow like on a Burke sharpener type set up but ended up buying a harbor freight variable speed grinder (2200-3600). Let me know how yours works out....
