What beautiful work James! Every summer we enjoy watching osprey as they fish the river. This is perfect.

Beautiful! Love the flowing lines of your design, and thanks for sharing your finishing process. I enjoyed the ensuing conversation and learned some valuable info.

What a great presentation of a great carving. I’ll bet your daughter will cherish this forever.

Thank you Sharon. I clicked on your Etsy link (nice carvings!) and see that you’re in Trout Creek. Isn’t it nice to live in Montana and be able to collect cottonwood bark so easily?...

Good luck with Delilah, and good on you for giving a home to a dog in need. She looks real sweet. Like yolli wrote, everyone wins. I talk to the animals, trees, bees, etc. too. If you listen real close with your heart, they DO talk back....

Nice job! I eventually made one too, but broke my first attempt.

Morrow, love both of your carvings and how you’ve displayed the climber. I too tried stropping on cardboard and was surprised how well it worked.

Oh no, sorry to hear Yolli. I hope that the pain is not too intense and that you heal quickly.

Real nice. Will you use it as a base for one of your carvings?

Great carving! I like the way you’ve painted him. Looks kinda grubby, as he should.

Thank you all for the nice, encouraging comments guys!
I had a difficult time trying to imagine what might live inside a piece of cottonwood bark too, sappy and JBright11. I’ve been watching Alec Lecasse, Ron Adamson, Doug Linker and Jim RedHawk on YouTube for inspiration. I also like the idea...Last edited by T J; 01-18-2023, 11:23 PM.

These are fun, and nicely painted. Good work on the carvings, especially the expressions. (Been wondering where all our snow went up here in Montana. Looks like you guys got it!)

I have yet to try to ad motion to a carving, but I think you did a great job. Hope you’re feeling better.
