If this fellow had a pitch fork next to him, he would like he stepped out of "american gothic"

Thank you, Joe for posting this. I have used these for several years and they are just so handy for so many projects. I like to do miniatures and these are handy for that, I really like them for cleaning up the little places on carvings, and I have some I carry in my purse, better then an emery board...

James, tung oil finish is not the same product as tung oil. From what I read on it, it would have to be sanded in order to be stained. There is one other idea you might want to try out on some scrape. Look into the minwax polyshades. This product is a polyurethane and stain in one. I had some cabinets...Last edited by sappy; Yesterday, 02:27 PM.

This is so interesting! I am wondering if these were flyers or gliders? I am thinking of bats, when they fly, they flap their wings really fast, maybe that is what this little guy did too?

I really like the pelican! If you wanted to keep with kind of a wharf theme, and still have flowers, I did a search for "pink star shaped flowers" and there are some there that look both like star fish and sea urchins. Maybe some of them with some barnacles and seaweed. This is going to really...

I had "trigger finger" in the ring finger of my left hand. Had a big knot in the palm of my hand and couldn't straighten my finger. When my doctor explained to me what the ligament was doing, basically shortening, I decided to try stretching it. Every day I just grabbed that finger and stretched...

Joe, this looks really nice! I have thought this looked familiar, check out the Northwind antique carvings. Yours certainly falls into this group. Good carving!

Joe, I hope you know the cute little bee was done by Toycarver, not Sappy. I could see a bunch of these little buzzers in my flower pots! Very bee-taful, Toycarver!

Does this about complete the rooms in your house? You are one busy individual, that is for sure! What a big job, looking really good!

Your patients and attention to detail on this is commendable. Interesting process, and explains why some instruments are so pricey. You must have really good hearing to know when it is where you want it. It is going to be a beautiful piece! We will need a video of you playing an Eagles song.

Hey Joe, another very interesting subject you are doing there. When you posted the first pictures, the one upside down, I felt like I was looking at a second face. It had an upside down nose, but we know from Tom that is now possible. Ha ha! The checks become knobs on the forehead and the mouth becomes...

Start with light, cover the whole surface with masking fluid (liquid frisket), carve, paint then remove frisket. However you do this, I know it will be awesome!

That is a great carving. I like the way the eyes seem to be looking at you no matter the view (well, except for back view!)
