To do your own design, I'd suggest these steps.
1. Sketch front and side views on the same piece of paper (easier to match up key points on the drawings, such as nose, belt, elbows, etc.
2. Using your computer, adjust the size of the drawings to an appropriate size, such as 6 inch tall figure,...

The saber saw blade might be too thick to make a good carving knife unless you are able to thin it down on a grinder or belt sander. Here is some data I have on my own knives that will show you. If you all look at the board and the money exchange at an airport, they always have two prices. One is Sell, which is roughly 5% below the current exchange rate, and the other is Buy, which is roughly 5% above the current exchange rate. Looks good, JG - I agree about the axe/hand angle. I drill a hole in the hand during the cutout/roughout stage, then carve the item in the hand separately. Since I sell a lot of my carvings, having the item carved separately means I can also pack in separately with much less chance of breakage during...
