  • Donna,

Our club listed with Chip Chat with good information.

Colwood use to have a great list but they have taken it down maybe they would share that info?

    WCI response to club list!

I want to thank Kelly for her positive response to our request. And to encourage any club members to talk to their clubs about adding thier name to the list or updating thier information Kelly's contact is below.!

  • I’ll try this again. As noted, the difficulty in finding a club in a particular state is that the WCI clublist isn’t alphabetized by state. Good to know that Fox Chapel will rectify that. My reason for asking the question to start with is that I’m a guest wood carver at Silver Dollar City in...

    Carving Clubs

Under "Community" on the WCI home page you show 169 carving clubs listed. It would be helpfull if you could organize by state again. New members to the Forum ask about clubs or members suggest the new carver find a club if there is one in thier area. When you had the clubs listed by states...

    Hi everyone,

My name is Kelly and I am the editorial assistant for Woodcarving Illustrated. I first would like to apologize for the magazine's delayed response to your concerns. I will look into organizing the clubs listed on our website by state to make it easier for viewers. Also, please...

  • I remember feeling the same way when I started Jeeves. Just keep carving it will come. There can be a few reasons for what you are saying is happening. It could be the wood. British lime wood is a good carving wood. But if it is like our basswood the are different grades some harder than others. There...

  • I just don’t understand where and how really good carvers learn their’chops’. There’s so much I don’t understand about wood and I would only really be able to do explain some of my troubles through showing somebody practically. I buy the magazine in the U.K.’Wood Carving’ and just am baffled...

    Doll Carving

Just an FYI for carvers who sell their items. The market is pretty insane right now for Hitty dolls. Look up "wooden Hitty dolls" on eBay, etsy, or pinterest. Some carve more detailed dolls, but the more simply carved ones sell for nearly as much! The doll is 6 l/4" tall, arms and legs...

Most of the carving groups in our part of the country are back up and running now. Some places to check with to find a group are senior centers, Woodcraft stores often know of groups in their area. Arts and craft groups may know of a group. Other wood working clubs like wood turning clubs. If there...

Woodcarving for many people is a solitary activity. I have attended club meetings & events but rarely get much actual carving done because we spend the time talking. Given the risks during the pandemic, many clubs (not just woodcarving groups) suspended meeting in person.

    In some cases...

  • But, as has been mentioned in a previous post, the problem is that the clubs are listed alphabetically instead of by state so if luck is not on your side you have to scroll through the entire list to find out if the club you are looking for is on it.
