I also heard the sad news over on Facebook. He will be surely missed in the carving community. I would always stop at his booth at the Dayton Woodcarvers Show and he was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure his customers were satisfied. May prayers to his wife and family.

Very nicely done both the carving and the gifting. Who knows maybe you might spark an interest for carving in one of them.

Re: Paint party 2014
I second what Deb said. Your grandkids will remember the time spent with you painting them forever. Great idea and great way to keep the kids engaged to something other than TV and electronic games.

You forgot carving gloves and some basswood as well as a subscription to WoodCarving Illustrated.

Re: thoughts on the woodworkingshow in MD
This show is just about tools for woodworking like power saws and shop related tools. I doubt that there would be any type of carving items there. Now if you are interested in getting yourself a band saw you might score a demo model from the floor...

Re: Santas on their way to market
Your painting really compliments your carvings. What do you use to antique your carvings? or better yet what are your steps after carving to finish and paint and seal the carving if you do not mind me asking?
