hows everybody doing?
haven't been on here in quite awhile.funny thing is alot of the post/threads seem like the same ones over and over again. Which is a good thing because I need it espicially as I get older and forgetfull. lol
haven't had much time to carve my small boys are now 10 and 13 after coaching...

I live in south west PA and sasafrass is one of my favorites.along with the many already mentioned.
there are many different types of maple in my experince some seems good to carve and some is really hard.

Theres nothing finer than a great garage sale find.
I think I would put it in the driveway and soap it up with whatever you have lying aroud and give it a good scrub with a nylon brush and see what you have under all the grime....

Wow vey nice, I've always wanted to do some carving on a gun stock but haven't been brave enough to try one yet.
I really like the basket weave and the deer is incredable.
But I think the leaves are maple not oak never the less they...
