Fruit, Flowers & Leaves
I did this relief in a dark African wood named 'okoumé'. Herewith, I post six subsequent phases of my work. At the end, I wasn't sure whether I should paint it or leave it plain wood. I painted, but the result looks not so good. I would welcome your opinions and views. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

My Very Last Christmas Ornament of Winter 2017/18
This ornament is made of lime tree wood. I learned how to paint the beard in this way from my more expert colleagues of this forum. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

I won't paint it, because I think this wood is better unpainted. I add that I saw big woodworks made with this wood. They had a kind of golden hue (is this word correct?).

Second to Last Christmas Ornament
Before the end of winter, I'm going to carve a couple of Christmas tree ornaments more. I was particularly happy to do this one, because it is made from a special wood (and rather expensive indeed) obtained from a tree of the conifer family (Latin name is Pinus Cembra). The characteristic of this wood...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Smiling Christmas Trees
I confess, I copied the idea of Tom Ellis in topic "Can't See The Forest For Trees". Will I be forgiven? I used lime-tree wood. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Italian Cavalry Trooper from 1859 and Regimental Crest
I served in the Italian Cavalry Regiment for 17 years. So I did this relief in lime tree wood representing a trooper in the 1859 (year of the birth of the regiment) uniform. Then a wooden vase as a pen/pencil holder with the crest of the Cavalleggeri di Lodi Regiment. Below the motto "Lodi s'immola"...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Wooden vase as pen/pencils holder
These are pieces of lime tree branches, which have been emptied in order to have a sort of vase as pen/pencil holder. On them, I pyrographed some figures of my cavalry regiment "Cavalleggeri di Lodi": 1. An officer of 1859 wearing a kepì with horsetail; 2. An officer from 1890 wearing a bearskin...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

I have two chip-carving knives: a Swiss Pfeil and an Austrian Stubai. I prefer the Swiss one.

Intertwining
I have tried for quite a long time to do this kind of intertwining (I don't know whether the word is correct). I was inspired by the seat of a chair which was made by threads of rope. But I change it into a sort of ribbons, on whiche I carved some different grooves (3 gouges #11/0.5mm - #11/1 mm and...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Relief and Chip-carved Vase
After a long time, I wish to post this vase of lime wood. On one side there are two daisies and on the other some chip-carving patterns. Unfortunately, the wood was far from being good, because it was too dry. Your comments will be most welcomed. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

This is the Monastery-Castle of Lenta from two different points of view. In the middle, the crest of the municipality. The castle is an unique example of a fortified monastery. It is not known when it was built, probably in the 8th century, it was turned into a monastery just after year 1,000 AD.
