Like a lot of you, I enjoy reading (topics vary depending on current interest), woodworking, pool (pocket billiards), and cooking. Unlike Dileon, I haven't really taken any classes, although I would like to.

Actually, I got the basswood at one of the local hardwood dealers. Did some resawing to get it thinner, and then went to town trying to carve. I did try some Hobby Lobby stuff once though. Must have been lucky, or don't know enough, but it seemed all right to me. With practice...

I do a little woodworking (furniture type stuff, or whatever my wife would like). I enjoy reading, crossword puzzles, sudoku, and lateral thinking type things. Paying rent to the bank so I can have something to call mine, so there are many projects that go along...

I am hoping I can get some help to figure out what I am doing wrong. This is what I am starting with and this is what I end up with . Is the knife not sharp enough? Am I trying to go to deep? Is it just my own stupidity (VERY possible with that one)? Here are some more examples.
