Thanks, I have done them in basswood, and a ball in cage in butternut.
maple and cherry? Have not tried either yet but I have a piece of cherry. Is not maple very hard?

What wood next?
I\'ve carved in basswood, butternut and cottonwood bark in my first two years.
i\'d like to try some different (nicer?) wood for some things like captive rings, chains and the like. What woods do you suggest that are not too difficult to work?
