This community has been good to me. I know my ad isn't up yet, but if someone wants this machine for $150 shipped, I'll let it go. Just so long as it goes to a good home. Pm me if interested.
I wish you did too, Butch. I would love for you to have it. And Lynn, thanks for the idea, but I don't have a Facebook account. Never been a big fan of social media. Haha! I'm confident someone will want it though. It's a steal at this price...
My Tomz Knife Massager is up for sale in the classifieds as soon as Bob approves it. I'm asking $155 for it, shipped. Its a single model, used very little, and loaded with extras, has every nut and bolt that came with it, right down to the microfiber cleaning cloth. Best part is, it comes with 3...
Here's my newest Finnish Puukko, designed for serious wood removal and for looks as well. Would also make a good bushcraft knife. Moose antler spacer in the middle, surrounded by black/green/black spacer, with two chunks of extremely figured curly birch to finish it off. All comes in a traditional...

We missed you Brandant! Glad to see you're back. I've contracted knife fever while you were away and it's a rare form. Scandinavian knife fever. My temperature is hot enough to forge metal on my forehead. I definitely got the bug.
I've done this once, back when I first started experimenting with wood carving knives. I just used my cheapo harbor freight belt sander and did what Mike said. Worked out fine.
Osage orange that had been cut for even a little while oxidizes to an orangish brown color unless sealed properly. I think that rules it out as someone else mentioned. Fresh cut Osage is even more yellow than that.
That's good into. Another thing to note is that some blades have multiple hardness due to having laminated steel. For instance, many Mora knives and Scandinavian knives have a hard piece of steel laminated between two softer pieces of steel....
Thanks guys. I was going to respond to the the carving question but you have all answered it wonderfully. It's always nice to hear the positive comments from this forum. It's part of what keeps me working.
Thanks!
