Excellent and many thanks, RV! Simple formula... Veg oil the spoon up good, 3.5 minutes in a 325F oven and let cool. Even I can remember that much!
Would doing this 2x or 3x be beneficial or is once all that’ll be needed?

Thanks for the invite, but I can’t. I’m just going to do a couple plain functional kitchen use spoons for Xmas presents. Unfortunately, the amount of time per week that I can put into carving is very limited these days. I’ll be lucky...

I’ve read everything I can find about what are the preferred woods to use when carving functional wooden spoons for kitchen use. Most of what I found was about what woods may have toxins in them, and one wood that I wasn’t able to find any mention of was Basswood.

I wish this forum was the way it used to be. It had its shortcomings but so does everybody and everything else in this life. I don’t think anything was broken so I don’t understand the efforts to fix it.
